Where to now..  So you want to explore the beautiful South Island, get out and do it.  Weather you’re travelling in a Camper, by car, or motorbike it is totally possible and well worth the time.    Here’s my tips for travelling on a Harley Davidson.

You can virtually fly into any coast but we wanted to start our adventure by taking in the beautiful the ferry up through the beautiful Marlborough Sounds and start at the top of the South Island.

Day 3

This can be broken down into two days if required to allow for a stopover in Christchurch for the night depending on time frames.

 Day 5    75 k’s    Wanaka to Queenstown via Arrowtown

A short ride today but heaps of scenery.  The ride takes you via Crown Range Road, take time to pop into the Cardrona Hotel for a refreshment, great old pub.  The ride down the Crown Range is spectacular, steep and winding as you ride down into Queenstown.  You will have time to detour into Arrowtown a lovely wee village.  Plenty of Accommodation in Quee...

Day 9 Te Anau to Invercargill & Bluff   214 k’s 

Today head to the most southern point of the South Island. Invercargill is just a short ride from Te Anau.   Just out of Invercargill head to the town of Bluff and get that all important photo at the Bluff Lookout.  Can’t go any further you’re at the end of the South Island.  Well done you made it down now to get back up the island.

Day 12 Cromwell / Clyde to Haast   209 k's

Today’s ride your heading into some really winding roads and wilderness and one way bridges.  Allow time and enjoy the ride.  The ride alongside Lake Hawea is beautiful, there is a lovely stopping point at the top end of the lake for a great photo shot, before turning the corner and following Lake Wanaka into the small village of Makarora.  There are a few lovely walks to take in...

Day 15   Greymouth to Murchison    (Punakaiki)   185 k's

Be prepared for one of the best riding roads in the South Island. 

Leaving Greymouth, your first stop should be Punakaiki or Pancake Rocks (Make sure you put in “Punakaiki” you’re your GPS or it will take you the inland road to Murchison) Stop here and do the dedicated walk around the rocks, and coastal viewing. There is also a few gift shops...
